Welcome to this week’s edition of The Sunday Horophile Times, covering top watch news from the past few days. With less than 72 hours to go until Baselworld officially kicks off, I’ll be keeping it short this time and will skip the recommended reading list.

Arnold & Son CTB

This week saw another Arnold & Son pre-Basel watch announcement, this time the CTB, the world’s only chronograph watch with a central “True Beat” seconds hand. Expect more on this piece after Baselworld, but for now have a look at this amateur video I managed to record of the watch in action.

Jacob & Co Astronomia Tourbillon

When I think of Jacob & Co, I think of “iced out” and garishly oversized watches worn by rappers in the early-mid 2000’s. So their latest creation, the Astronomia Tourbillon definitely comes as a positive surprise. Until we get more information next week, here’s a teaser video from the brand:

Christophe Claret Margot

 Christophe Claret has finally unveiled his first ladies’ watch, the Margot. With what appears to be a more playful complication not unlike picking petals off a daisy in a game of “he loves me, he loves me not”.

Romain Gauthier Logical One Secret

Romain Gauthier has just announced several new jeweled versions of his highly acclaimed Logical One, this time incorporating a cover that can be opened by a pusher at 4 o’clock, set with baguette cut diamonds or rubies as pictured.

Speake-Marin: New COO, New Watch, New Website

Peter Speake-Marin has definitely come a long way from restoring antique clocks and timepieces. Going from an independent watchmaker to an independent brand, Speake-Marin has brought in a new Chief Operating Officer, Michel Teweles who comes from the world of luxury yachts and hotels, not to mention a sailor in The America’s Cup.

Speak-Marine has also released the new Magister Tourbillon, featuring a 3Hz tourbillon escapement with a micro-rotor and an oscillating mass made of platinum.
